Korra is a pretty big thing in Fanime con 2012 this year. There were many many Korras, several Lins, at least one Tenzin, and several Bolins and Makos and Amons. (interestingly, I didn’t bump into any asami’s. Or maybe she’s harder to spot ;___; ). Also, every other booth at the Artist Alley had at least one LOK fanart!

So all you LOK cosplayers out there - thanks for an amazing time at Fanime 2012! Let me know if you’re featured in any of the pics I’ve posted lately so I can source/link back to your tumblr.
here’s a babied Tenzin for you!
Creeping around the Fanime 2012 tag because people I know went. I don’t really anime so most of this stuff doesn’t make any sense to me. Yes, I used anime as a verb. But ATLA and Korra!
It occurred to me that while I was writing about The Bed Song (and the photo sequence that Kyle and I did) I didn’t actually put up a link to the song itself. This is a slightly echoey video from Union Chapel in 2009, shortly after she wrote it.
I am convinced that this Peter Serafinowicz rock video for Hot Chip is secretly an episode of Doctor Who. I strongly suspect that I think that this means that Reggie Watts should be the Doctor. Unless it means that Terence Stamp should be the Doctor. (Or is Terence Stamp the Master?)
I’m not even going to tell you the catcalls I received in Manhattan when I lived there. It’s a shitty thing. If you are a lady chances are you know what it’s like to walk down the street and feel afraid of every dude you see thinking “is that guy on the corner going to say some shit to me? Please dude, do not say anything to meeee.” Anyway if you don’t know what it’s like to be harassed whenever you leave the house, here is an article where women talk about that: http://rookiemag.com/2012/05/it-happens-all-the-time/
Since this is in the same vein as the earlier discussion (and because Jess Fink is amazing), I thought you guys might appreciate seeing it.
Here is some of the stuff I’ll be taking to MCM tomorrow, not including stuff like books, prints, and other bits and pieces. Be sure to stop by table J9 nice and early before they all go!
Those odd moments when you discover that friends of yours in different directions know each other. I’ve known Jonathan Coulton for years, and Amanda and Sara are old friends. And here they coincide, singing STILL ALIVE.
